Mom and I picked up Aaron at Tiffany's Diner en route to JFK. Thinking there was going to be traffic, as per the usual in New York, we gave ourselves plenty of time to get there. Well, of course, there was absolutely no traffic and we arrived about 4 hours early. All checked in and ready to go with bags upgraded to priority gave us some peace of mind that our bags would be there when we got to Mumbai. We stopped for our last “American” meal at The Palm in the JFK airport just after saying good bye to my mom (who gets stuck in that NYC traffic on her way home). Ahh, bacon cheeseburger, that'll be the last we have of one of those for a while.
Everything left on time, 7 hours to Zurich, Switzerland where Aaron was tempted by the oodles of chocolate even though it was barely 7am when we got there. Then another 8 hour flight to Mumbai. The plane was nearly empty and I had an entire middle row of 5 seats to sleep across. So, you can imagine how fast the second flight went for me...Aaron wasn't so lucky having only two seats in the outside row.
Then we had touchdown in Mumbai. Walking through the airport and through customs we had no idea what awaited us outside the terminal. Afterall, it looked just like any other city from the air. Everything seemed as normal as could be. We exchanged some money, bought our prepaid taxi ride, and ventured out.
